Export a Notion database to a CRM, with or without a CSV file

A Notion database exports to CSV from its menu, in the “Markdown & CSV” format, using the current view or the default view. To bring it into Kasar, the file is optional: Kasar imports a connected Notion database directly and converts each property type (select, person, relation, formula) by a fixed rule, laid out below. The CSV is still handy beyond 10,000 rows or for archiving.

Facts checked on October 6, 2026

01What a Notion export produces

Notion's help center, checked on October 6, 2026, lists three export formats: PDF, HTML and “Markdown & CSV”. For a database the third is the one that matters: the database comes out as a CSV file, and its pages come out as Markdown files next to it. Notion exports either the current view or the default view, never every view at once.

Database rows

The Notion export
A CSV, current or default view
The direct Kasar import
Every row, up to 10,000

Each property type

The Notion export
Lost: everything becomes text
The direct Kasar import
Kept: select, date, number, checkbox keep their nature

Select options

The Notion export
The values found in the file

The option list read from the database schema

Relations between databases

The Notion export
Text in a cell
The direct Kasar import
Titles of linked pages, if the target database is shared

Page content

Not carried over: only properties become fields

02Exporting a Notion database to CSV

  1. 1

Open the database as a full page

Pick the view to export, ideally a table. A form view cannot be exported: use a table view instead.

  2. 2

Open the menu and choose Export

In the top right menu, click Export, then pick the “Markdown & CSV” format.

  3. 3

    Choose the view

Current view or default view. The current view keeps its filters: make sure they do not hide rows.

  4. 4

    Decide on subpages

The include subpages option, on Business and Enterprise plans, produces a zip of nested folders. For a CRM, only the database CSV matters.

  5. 5

    Get the file

A small export downloads right away. A large one arrives by email with a link valid for 7 days. A full workspace export can take up to 30 hours.

03Moving the database into Kasar, no file needed

Kasar reads the database through the Notion API. The mapping comes from the database schema, without AI: the type of each property and the option list of each select decide which field is proposed. The rest follows the usual import flow, with preview, duplicates and report.

  1. 1

    Connect Notion

From the import screen or the Notion integration, click Connect Notion. In the Notion window, pick the pages and databases you share with Kasar.

  2. 2

    Pick Notion as the source

In the upload step, next to “File”, click Notion. The list of shared databases appears. If one is missing, share it from Notion and refresh.

  3. 3

    Select the database and import

Kasar fetches the rows and proposes the mapping. It can offer to create an object matching the database, an admin only action.

  4. 4

    Review, then start

The review screen flags any limit hit (truncated relations, several data sources) before you start. The report then details every record created.

A Place property does not go through this route. To keep an address, add a text property in Notion that copies it before the import. A verification property, specific to Notion wikis, holds no sales data and is not carried over.

05Limits to know before you start

  • 10,000 rows per database : beyond that, export the database as several CSV files through filtered views and import those files.
  • 25 items per relation : the Notion API only returns 25 references per relation in a page, later links are not imported. The review screen names the properties involved.
  • One data source : if the database has several, only the first is imported.
  • Notion hosted files : their address is signed and expires after one hour, per the API documentation. An external attachment keeps its link.
  • Unshared linked databases : a relation to a database Kasar cannot see leaves the cell empty. Kasar never writes Notion technical IDs into your fields.
  • One-off import : running it again rereads the database, nothing syncs on its own afterwards.

Before you connect Notion

  • The database, and the databases it links to, are shared with Kasar.
  • Place properties are copied into a text property.
  • The database has fewer than 10,000 rows, or it is split.
  • You know which object it should become : contacts, companies, opportunities or one of its own.
  • Counting on the import to keep Notion and Kasar in sync.

Frequently asked questions

Notion exports to PDF, HTML and “Markdown & CSV”: choose the last one in the database Export menu, then open the CSV in Excel. If the goal is a CRM, Kasar does not need the file, since it imports the connected database directly.

Kasar replaces each relation with the titles of the linked pages, as long as the target database is shared with it. A relation to the same database can become a link between records. Beyond 25 items in one relation, the rest are not carried over.

No, only properties become fields. Text written inside a page stays in Notion, or in the Markdown files of the export if you need them. Copy into a text property whatever should follow the record.

No. Import, from a file or from Notion, is available on every Kasar plan, Free included, with no row quota tied to the plan. Creating an object from the database requires an admin role.
