Connect Claude or ChatGPT to Granola: read your notes, then act on the CRM

Granola publishes its own MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT: the assistant reads your meeting notes, read only. Kasar picks up where that connector stops. Your Granola notes land in the CRM, tied to the calendar event and to the attendees’ records, and the assistant can then create the task, move the deal or find a client’s exact words.

Facts checked on October 6, 2026

01Built-in route: Granola’s MCP connector

Granola’s documentation, checked on 6 October 2026, describes an official MCP server at https://mcp.granola.ai/mcp. In Claude, you add it from Settings, Connectors, by searching for Granola; in ChatGPT, from Settings, then you call it with @Granola. Claude Code takes it from the command line.

Its tools query your notes, list and open meetings, read a transcript, browse your folders and confirm the connected account. Everything is read only. Depth depends on your Granola plan: 30 days of personal notes on Basic, full history on Business and Enterprise, and transcripts on paid plans. Granola states an average limit of about 100 requests per minute.

It is the right tool to ask “what did we decide on Tuesday?”. The next question, “where does the deal stand since Tuesday?”, falls outside its scope: the note lives in Granola, the deal lives in the CRM.

02Kasar route: Granola inside the CRM, Claude on top

With Kasar, the order flips. Granola sends its notes to the CRM, and the assistant reads the CRM. Each note becomes a meeting tied to your calendar event through the ID Granola provides, then to the records of the people who attended. Kasar writes its own five-part summary: overview, key points, decisions, action items, next steps.

  1. 1

Create an API key in Granola

It starts with grn_. Kasar’s connection window shows where to find it.

  2. 2

    Paste it into Kasar

Settings, Channels, Granola tile, Connect. Kasar checks the key, then imports your whole note history. An admin can also plug in the team key for the public notes of the Granola workspace.

  3. 3

    Add Kasar to Claude

In Claude, Customize, Connectors, “Add custom connector”, with the URL below. Then authorise your workspaces on the Kasar page: the connection uses OAuth 2.1 with PKCE, with no key to copy.

  4. 4

    Check the notes are there

Ask “list my meetings this week that have a summary”. The assistant calls crm_find_events and returns the list.

Notes arrive in real time when your Granola plan offers notifications, otherwise every 5 minutes. Meetings among colleagues only are not imported: the CRM keeps what involves your clients and prospects. And Kasar charges no credits to summarise a note that came from Granola.

In ChatGPT

Most of the work here is reading, which opens the Kasar route to more ChatGPT accounts. OpenAI’s help centre, checked on 6 October 2026, lets Pro users connect an MCP server in developer mode with read permissions: your meetings, their summaries and your records are readable. Creating a task or moving a deal needs full MCP, in beta for Business, Enterprise and Edu, on the web.

03The tools the assistant chains together

Find the meeting

Tool
crm_find_events (list)
What the assistant gets
Meetings for a period or a record, with summary and transcript flags

Read the notes

Tool
crm_find_events (get)
What the assistant gets
The structured summary, attendees, linked records

Find a quote

Tool
crm_ask_transcripts
What the assistant gets
The relevant passages, cited with meeting, date and timestamp

See the context

Tool
crm_find_activity
What the assistant gets
Emails, messages and calls around the meeting

Act

Tool
crm_manage_tasks, crm_save_records, crm_move_deal
What the assistant gets
A task, an updated field, a deal moved on

crm_ask_transcripts does not write the answer: it returns the passages that match your question, and Claude answers by quoting them. Matching works on words, so a name, a product or a number retrieves better than a paraphrase.

04Five prompts to copy

  1. 1

“Sum up yesterday’s Granola meeting with Atelier Moreau and tell me what we promised.”

crm_find_events opens the meeting and reads the action items; the assistant lists the commitments made.

  2. 2

“Across this quarter’s meetings, who talked about the 2027 budget?”

crm_ask_transcripts looks for budget and 2027 and returns the passages, each cited with its meeting and timestamp.

  3. 3

“Create the follow-up tasks from this morning’s demo, assigned to me, due Friday.”

The assistant reads the next steps in the summary, then crm_manage_tasks creates one task per action, linked to the client’s record.

  4. 4

“Move the Atelier Moreau deal to Proposal and log the amount mentioned in the meeting.”

crm_save_records fills in the amount, and crm_move_deal moves the deal while enforcing the stage’s required questions.

  5. 5

“Prep my meeting with Karine tomorrow: her last two meetings and our latest emails.”

crm_find_activity pulls the record’s history; crm_find_events opens both meeting summaries.

05Read, write, confirm

On meetings, the assistant only reads: it changes neither the Granola note nor the summary. Its writes land in the CRM: tasks, notes, fields, pipeline stages. They run with your permissions, and a meeting with private content stays visible while its summary stays closed.

Actions that notify other people follow the Kasar confirmation flow: a preview, then a token that lasts 5 minutes and works once. That covers a follow-up email sent after the meeting or an event added to the calendar, both of which reach other people. A task or a field is written directly, and is just as easy to fix.

Granola remembers the meeting. Kasar remembers the client.

Frequently asked questions

You can. It stays handy for a note that never enters the CRM, such as an internal meeting. For anything about a client, go through Kasar: the meeting is already tied to the record and the deal there.

A Granola API key is enough. Real time depends on your plan: without notifications, Kasar checks Granola every 5 minutes, and the Granola line in Kasar says so.

No. Kasar charges no credits for notes imported from Granola, Fathom or Google Meet, summary included (see the Pricing page).

Check that it had at least one external attendee: meetings among colleagues are not imported. Otherwise, the Granola line under Settings, Channels can re-import the last 30 days, without creating duplicates.

Kasar, the CRM that prospects, follows up and fills itself in.

  • It captures.

Emails, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, calls and meetings land on the record, with no data entry.

  • It acts.

Tasks, meeting notes, follow-ups: the CRM keeps itself current and tells you what to do next.

  • It prospects.

One sequence chains email, LinkedIn and WhatsApp. The reply lands on the record, next to the deal.

  • It takes your shape and connects to everything.

Your objects, your fields, your relationships. Everything else goes through webhooks, the API and the MCP server.
